Astrid Pinto, Ph.D. Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Pinto earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from the University of North Dakota, an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program. She also obtained a Master of Science in Psychology from Villanova University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Studio Art from the College of St. Catherine.
Dr. Pinto completed an APA-accredited Pre-Doctoral internship at the Regional Mental Health Center in Merrillville, Indiana. Here, she provided individual and family therapy to clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. She also conducted day programming for clients with severe mental illness and co-facilitated group therapy for clients within the substance abuse programs.
Additionally, she has worked at an integrated and rural health clinic and a multidisciplinary private practice, providing both child and adult psychotherapy. She also conducted psychological assessments for diagnostic clarification of ADHD and mood disorders.
Dr. Pinto has an interest in helping adults manage generalized and social anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), relationship issues, workplace and parenting stress, low self-esteem, motivation issues, and challenging life transitions. Additionally, she facilitates family therapy to improve communication and relationships between family members.
Having lived overseas, Dr. Pinto enjoys working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences. To facilitate change, Dr. Pinto integrates cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, short-term psychodynamic, and mindfulness approaches. She enjoys collaborating with other providers in order to provide the best care for her clients.
